Art Nouveau splendor in Mexico City
Mexico City’s Gran Hotel in the Centro Histórico is a stunning example of Art Nouveau décor and boasts a spectacular Tiffany dome in the lobby. It also features in the latest James Bond film “Spectre”.
Built in 1899 in the popular Art Nouveau style so fashionable in Paris, it housed Mexico City’s first department store. In 1968 it was converted into a hotel for the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games and later underwent extensive renovation work, re-opening in 2005 as the Gran Hotel.
