Photo Walk Nº49 – Coyoacán Centre and Market
Wandering around the colorful centre of Coyoacán and tasting delicious tostadas in the market
It looked like the bad weather might spoil Photo Walk Nº49 but it stopped raining just in time as we started the walk by the Fuente de los Coyotes in Coyoacán. We photographed the square and the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista before making our way to the Plaza de la Conchita with its small church. There are lots of colorful buildings and some street art around this area. Next we visited the Hacienda de Cortés, with its bright pink, yellow and blue colors.
After walking down towards the Plaza Jardin Hidalgo, we first popped into the Museo de Culturas Populares to take some photos in the grounds before going to Casa de Cortés, now the city hall, where we photographed the typical colonial-style patio with its fountain in the centre.
Our next stop was the Market where we made a pit stop to try the delicious and very fresh tostadas and aguas de sabor, sitting under the watchful eye of a Donald Trump piñata. A little further on down the same street is the Casa Azul or Blue House, where Frida Kahlo lived, now a museum. Some of the group stopped here to go in while the others went back to have a typical café de olla at El Jaroche.
